What does a Free Will Connection Look Like in Real Life?
I was riding my fiery Smart Little Lena bred cutter who had won $40,000 as a performance
horse before I became his mommy. It was me and him on 22 open acres, bareback and
bridleless. Me, my boy and nature. I knew my boy. As a trained performance horse for 15
years he had the instinct to cut (move) when something caught his eye.
We were loping up the hill and came across a rafter of wild turkeys. Our speedy arrival
made the majority of them take flight and the others run off making their silly noises.
Plenty of stimulus for my boy to react and completely natural for him to if he decided to.
I realized how vulnerable I was. I had nothing but his wispy little mane to hold onto if I did
even want to try to hold on. If I came off it was a hard ground with star thistle and burs.
He had no equipment on at all.
But we had our connection.
I put my hand on his heart and said "Please don't". It was a prayer I sent to his heart. If he
spooked and dumped me I would have understood and never got mad at him but I was
really looking forward to that not being the only outcome.
"Please don't baby".
He chose to stand still.
His heart rate decreased and stabilized and so did mine. My hand on his heart center.
The turkeys that were still on the ground walked away.
My horse decided to stand still from his free will. He chose to keep me safe.
There wouldn't have been any punishment if he dumped me. He was safe no matter what
choice he made in the moment.
And so was I.
Moments like this happened over and over until I started to understand exactly how
powerful honoring them is and how much they care about us.
People around me noticed it. They would ask me how I created such a connection and it
started with my connection to myself.
I began my journey of self-discovery guided by my animals and now get to experience a
life of connection. You are invited to the journey of self-discovery guided by your animal
so that you can enjoy blissful harmony and authentic connection too.
